förlorade ljud/ Sounds We Have Lost

I´m writing
“Tick, Tock”.
“The clock struck twelve.”
But children don´t have watches that are ticking anymore if they have watches at all.
Not even my own watch is ticking.
And have they heard a clock strike?
In my granny’s´house, I heard the wall clock ticking through the afternoon coffee until it struck with a brittle sound.

Anyway, thank heaven, we can still hear the mighty toll of the church bells.
